February Message from the Manager
Safety for all
Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative has always been dedicated to providing safe, reliable and affordable electric service to you, our member-owners. The lengths we go to keep you, your family and our employees safe are a point of pride for us and are never taken lightly.
Our employees participate in monthly safety training sessions provided by safety experts from the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives (NDaREC). These courses cover a wide variety of safety topics including defensive driving, CPR, First Aid, and pole-top rescue. These trainings ensure that our employees are constantly reminded of the safety aspect of the job and the importance of using equipment in the safest manner possible.
In addition to safety training for employees, we continuously raise awareness of electrical safety to our members and communities by providing safety articles in the North Dakota Living magazine, on our website and social media channels and by performing electrical safety demonstrations at local schools and community events. There, we show members just how easy it is for an accident to occur when working with electricity and how to prevent these dangerous, and sometimes deadly, mishaps.
We also increase awareness of electrical safety by engaging with local fire and emergency services departments offering electrical safety information pertaining specifically to Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative services.
Periodically, personal from NDaREC and the Cooperative’s insurance company, Federated Insurance, conduct on-site inspections of Cooperative facilities and employee work practices concerning safety.
At Burke-Divide Electric Cooperative, we know that the more safety training we provide to our employees and share in our communities, the safer we all will be. That’s why we strive, every day, to raise awareness of, and encourage development in, electrical safety.
Until next time,
